Principal, Peel Language Development School

Fiona Forbes has worked in early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary and special education fields for 20 years. She has been a principal for the past 11 years in special education working for the past 8 as the Principal of a special school for early childhood students with language disorders.

With a keen interest in educational leadership, social, emotional and behavioural issues and international and national research on special education, Fiona’s article Towards Inclusion: An Australian Perspective was published in NASEN’s Support for Learning Journal in May 2007. In 2008 Fiona presented papers on educational leadership at international conferences in Greece, Sweden and the UK. Fiona is the current President of the Australian Special Education Principals’ Associations.

Pauline started as teacher in charge at Katanning ESU and since then has held a number of Principal positions starting as acting principal of Kalamunda & Jandakot Primary School ESC’s and now substantively at the Coolbellup Learning Centre.
She has also worked for the Centre for Inclusive Schooling as a Visiting Teacher Disabilitiesand Team Leader Fremantle/Peel..

Areas of Interest: Policy, Behaviour Management, ASD and promoting the needs of our students.

Linda began her teaching career in 1989 at Mullaloo Heights Primary School but left the department to care for her family. She returned to teaching in 1997 and taught at Koorilla ESC. Linda then became a Visiting Teacher: Disabilities with the Centre for Inclusive Schooling. She was the principal at Joondalup ESC prior to becoming the principal at Cloverdale ESC.

Began teaching career at Pegs Creek Primary School in Karratha. Left the Education Department of WA in 1986 to travel Australia. Upon return to WA eight years later was offered a position at Rockingham Beach ESC and found her niche teaching children with special needs. Completed Graduate Certificate in Special Education and Masters of Education at Edith Cowan University. Acting Principal of Rockingham Beach ESC for five years before being appointed to the position in 2008.

Principal, Durham Road School

Stuart started as an education support teacher in 1992 at Gwynne Park Education Support Centre in Armadale.  Two country stints followed at Avonvale Education Support Centre in Northam and Moora.  Stuart also worked as Education Support Coordinator, supporting 47 students who attended one of 27 schools across the Moora District.  Stuart has been the Principal at Durham Road School, an education support school located in Bayswater, since 2001.  Durham Road School became a first round Independent Public School in 2010. 

Areas of interest include:  accountability in education support settings; workforce development and engaged leadership; school resourcing and; iPads in the curriculum.

Principal, Kalamunda SHS ESC 

Steve commenced teaching in 1985 at Mirrabooka SHS as an English/Drama teacher before leaving education to work in private industry for several years, including a period where he worked for The Autism Association of WA. He returned to the classroom in 1993. Steve’s experience includes ESL and special education at both primary and secondary levels. He has worked with the Centre for Inclusive Schooling as a Visiting Teacher and Team Leader Canning Team

Areas of Interest: Social Justice, Behaviour Management and best practice in special needs.
