Session 1 August 5th 2009 - 1.15 – 3.30pm Venue: Boulevard Centre, 99 The Boulevard, Floreat
1.15 pm Pathways and Transition Part 1 (Jacqueline Burns)
2.15 pm Afternoon Tea
2.30 pm Pathways and Transition Part 2 (Jacqueline Burns)

Jacqueline will outline the pivotal role of the ES community and Disability Sector in developing further education pathways for students who currently do not have access to education after year 12 – ASDAN Further Education Pathway Pilot; an update on Disability Services Commission Alternatives to Employment program will be provided with timelines etc for 2009 and the latest on the Seamless Transition Program; Pathways and Transition Planning website; and an update on secondary and school to adult life agenda at central office and across the sector.

Session 2 August 18th 2009 - 1.15 – 3.30pm Venue: Boulevard Centre, 99 The Boulevard, Floreat
1.15 pm Standards and Integrity: Complaints Management for Principals (Clem Wright)
Clem will outline the background to the creation of SID (Standards and Integrity Directorate) from the old CMU (Complaints Management Unit), the new role of SID, the different types of complaints, how complaints about staff conduct should be dealt with, the role of the PET (Prevention and Education Team) in complaints management, the new Complaints Categorisation Schedule and available training for Principals, and, a short case scenario for participants to attempt.

2.30 pm New Performance Management Guidelines, and Substandard Performance (Melanja Kwiatkowski)
Melanja will examine the Performance Management and also Substandard Performance policies and procedures. The new documents may not be available but Melanja will talk about the draft documents and perhaps get comments from those in attendance.

Session 3 August 26th 2009 - 1.30 – 3.00pm Venue: Canning Vale College, Dumbarton Road, Canning Vale

Working with Children Check Legislation (Catherine Young). At the conclusion of the training participants will:

  • have a basic understanding of the WWCC legislation;
  • be able to identify who needs a WWCC;
  • understand the application process;
  • understand the process for checking and recording WWCC details;
  • understand the process for non-compliance or adverse outcomes;
  • understand and undertake their responsibilities.
